Abstract

In a 4-2 decision, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruled that a divorced spouse may recover damages for emotional suffering intentionally inflicted by a former spouse while the two were married. The ruling comes from a suit filed by Marie B. Henriksen against her ex-husband John Malcolm Cameron, who allegedly inflicted intentional emotional distress through physical and verbal abuse during their 14-year marriage.
