Abstract

A $420,000 study of traffic congestion along Route 1 between Bath and Belfast has concluded that car pools, park and ride lots and commuter bus and rail service would do little to reduce gridlock. Despite that conclusion, the Maine Department of Transportation plans to spend $1 million to $3 million on alternative transportation over the next two years.
