Abstract

The Biddeford School Committee plans to send layoff notices to all of the 137 teachers in the system, even though it does not know how many of those layoffs will be permanent. The move was chosen as a cost-saving measure, and teachers will be rehired once it is known how deeply the city council will slash the proposed $15.5 million budget.
