Abstract

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that communities may not seize property from active-duty military personnel for unpaid taxes, regardless of the reason they failed to pay. The case involved the town of Danforth, which, in 1987, seized 96 acres owned by Army Colonel Thomas F. Conroy of South Portland.'
