Abstract

The state Highway Safety Bureau said 214 lives were lost on Maine highways in 1992, nine more than in 1991, with nearly 38 percent of them attributed to alcohol. Of the 169 people who died in passenger vehicles, 80 percent were not wearing seat belts.
