Abstract

Rocco DiSanto, a 58-year-old Scarborough restaurateur, has designed a furnace which burns pulverized waste, such as powdered tire rubber, and produces a lot of energy with almost no pollution or leftover residue. DiSanto has built and tested five versions of his furnance at Southern Maine Technical College.
