Abstract

The attorney for Dale Wood, the Bangor-area native on trial for the murder of Lubec banker Zachery Walston, says that when police gave cigarettes to his client prior to his making a statement about the slaying, they were improperly inducing him, and that statements resulting from such inducements are inadmissable as evidence. Lawyer Stuart Tisdale said Wood is addicted to nicotine, and giving cigarettes to him is like giving alcohol to an alcoholic.
