Abstract

Legislative committee proposals to restore items cut by Governor John R. McKernan's budget proposal have passed the $350 million mark, prompting McKernan to say that the Legislature hasn't yet gotten the message. The Appropriations Committee has asked for more money for the Maine State Retirement System, education, and human services than what McKernan proposed.
