Abstract

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says hunters killed 28,820 deer last year, an increase of 8 percent over 1991. The department's final tally shows that nearly one hunter in eight tagged a deer last year, with out-of-stte residents registering a 15 percent success rate as opposed to a 13 percent success rate for in-state residents.
