Abstract

Tribal Assets Management of Portland has been criticized by an assistant inspector general for the U.S. Interior Department for his role in the purchase of the Simpson Electric Co. by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Chippewas in Wisconsin. Tribal Assets determined a purchase price of $25 million, a price so high that subsequent loan default could not be avoided.
