Abstract

Flood warnings remain in effect for the Androscoggin, Kennebec, Aroostook and Piscataquis rivers, but officials believe the worst of it is over as rain began moving out of the state. State officials banned shellfish harvesting because of pollution spilling into the ocean from waste treatment plants, and high water on the Kennebec caused residents to clear out of ground-level apartments in Augusta and Hallowell.
