Abstract

International Paper co., based in Purchase, N.Y., announced earnings of $64 million in the first quarter, while Boise Cascade Corp., of Boise, Idaho, said its loss for the period narrowed. Both companies have operations and holdings in Maine, and said strong lumber demand helped their building products line, but the paper products business remains competitive.
