Abstract

A public hearing on the proposed Maine Health Care Plan, which would provide a wide range of medical care and health benefits to all Maine residents, heard from interest groups representing businesses, hospitals, doctors and insurers, all of whom opposed the bill. Mainers spent more than $3 billion on health care in 1992, and costs are increasing by 10 percent a year.
