Abstract

Public water systems in Bath and Rockland are among 90 nationwide that lack filters for disease-carrying organisms from polluted streams and lakes, and are unlikely to meet on a federal requirement mandating such filters by June of this year. Stephen C. Dewick of Kimball Chase Co., which is designing Bath's new water filtration plant, claims that more Maine municipalities should be on the list.
