Abstract

University of Maine President Frederick Hutchinson has proposed cuts totaling $8 million as he outlined his plan for scaling back the University of Maine System's flagship campus. Hutchinson's plan recommends the elimination of 193 jobs, cuts and mergers in 11 departments, an enrollment cap of 11,000 students, elimination of several doctoral programs, and the sale of the school's 160 Holstein cows.
