Abstract

Gov. McKernan's hiring of the Portland law firm of Verrill & Dana to draw up changes in the state retirement system appears to violate the law, according to Attorney General Michael Carpenter. McKernan, who used to work for Verrill & Dana, estimated the cost of their services at roughly $7,500. Related article.
