Abstract

Gov. McKernan's proposed state pension system cuts have generated concern from trustees of the Maine State Retirement System and the scheduling of a weekend hearing by the Legislature's Aging, Retirement and Veterans Committee to review the plan. McKernan said that his latest proposals, which would save the state an estimated $125 million over the next two years, are similar to reductions he proposed months ago.
