Abstract

More than 250 Maine businesses have received loans with the help of the Finance Authority of Maine during the first 11 months of this fiscal year, during which time the agency more than doubled the volume of loans it guaranteed. Since 1968, the agency's loan-guarantee volume has increased from $20 million to $110 million, its staff has decreased from 23 to 21 and its allocation from the state general fund has remained constant at $250,000 per year.
