Abstract

The Marine Spill Response Corp. announced yesterday that within 15 months Portland will become homeport to a 208-foot oil spill cleanup ship, 2 1/2 miles of oil booms, four vacuum skimmers and an oil storage barge. The equipment will handle spills of up to 9 million gallons. Portland will be one of four Northeast ports to get response vessels. Related article.
