Abstract

Long article about Julie Clauson, 36, granddaughter of former Maine Governor Clinton Clausen, who hopes to get off welfare soon, thanks to the assistance and incentives provided by Portland Housing Authority's innovative Self-Sufficiency Program, which is meant to help low-income people get off of welfare. Clausen hopes to obtain her real estate appraisers license in the fall.
