Abstract
A study done for the Public Utilities Commission says that customers of Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) are paying millions more than they should for electricity because CMP didn't try hard enough to renegotiate key contracts with private power plants. CMP spent nearly $400 million last year on purchased power from alternative-fuel plants, which now account for 38 percent of its energy supply. Details.
