Abstract

The Marine Advisory Council, a nine-member board which reviews proposed regulations for the Maine Department of Marine Resources, has voted unanimously in favor of new rules restricting commercial fishing on tidal rivers in Maine. The new rules are designed to protect migrating shad, alewives and sturgeon, but will also help conserve the stocks of striped bass, bluefish and other sport fish prized by sport fishermen. Details.
