Abstract

The Coast Guard has decided to demolish the Heron Neck Lighthouse keeper's house after historic preservation groups worked three years to save the 96-year-old home on Greens Island in Penobscot Bay. Charles "Chub" Whitten, a Boston developer, had received permission from the Coast Guard last year to renovate the structure. Details.
