Abstract

More than 150 acres of clam flats were closed in Scarborough after a contractor working for the state Department of Transportion ruptured a sewer line, releasing about 300,000 gallons of raw sewage into the Libby River. No permanent ecological damage is expected, but the flats will be closed for a minimum of five days.
