Abstract

Caroline Couper, 21, of South Portland, who was born with cerebral palsy, was molested by her father regularly between the ages of 10 and 19. A recent national study said that disabled children were 67 percent more likely to be abused than children without disabilities, and Maine Department of Human Service statistics show that roughly 5,600 cases of child abuse were documented in Maine in 1992.
