Abstract

In a "precedent-setting case," a judge awarded $500,000 in damages to a former Bangor woman who says she was sexually abused by a foster brother more than 37 years ago. Vickie Daigle, 47, of Montreal won the case by default as her foster brother Karl Daigle, did not challenge the lawsuit. This is the first time in Maine that someone who repressed sexual abuse has been compensated years after the fact.
