Abstract

Stephanie Mitchell, 8, of Princeton, is in serious but stable condition at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital after an experimental operation in which she received a new intestine. Mitchell was born without most of her small intestine, and friends and relatives in Freeport and neighboring towns raised money to help cover the estimated $500,000 to $850,000 cost of the operation.
