Abstract

Maine's physicians keep up with the estimated 400,000 medical journal articles which are written each year by attending discussion groups, watching cable television and listening to audio tapes. Whereas most large hospitals provide physicians with time to attend conferences and have the staff necessary to fill discussion groups, many rural physicians are at a disadvantage when it comes to interacting with other physicians who have similar specialties.
