Abstract

Recent legislation allows the state to revoke state professional, occupational and driving licenses of parents who fail to pay child support in Maine. Other measures are also being employed in a concerted effort by the Department of Human Services and other state agencies to make the 18,000 absentee parents who are delinquent on $150 million in court-ordered child support to either pay up or suffer the consequences.
