Abstract

The Portsmouth Naval shipyard's Dry Dock 2, a 680-foot, $2 million enclosed dry dock with its own production shop and meeting rooms, was dedicated a year ago this month. Retired shipyard engineer Kenneth Lanzillo is credited with coming up with the idea for the structure, and because of it deserves major credit for helping save the shipyard from inclusion on the Pentagon's base-closure list.
