Abstract

Part of the state Department of Environmental Protection's Oil Spill Response Project entails identifying sensitive habitats, and to that end a survey of most of Casco Bay and all of Cobscook Bay is underway to map eelgrass beds. Eelgrass, a flowering plant which grows underwater, provides nursery grounds and protection for marine creatures and feeding sites for birds. Details.
