Abstract

The Portland City Council yesterday appointed a committee to oversee the design and construction of a train station for Portland. The action was taken over the protest of those who argued that since no money is yet available for the project, the appointment of the committee is premature and mistakenly leads state and federal officials to believe the city is ready to commit its $600,000 share to the project.
