Abstract

John Bothelo, 60, of West Bowdoin, the owner of a business he calls "Johnnies Tire Service," has been sentenced to service 45 days in jail, beginning October 1, for violating the state's environmental laws. Bothelo owns a giant tire dump containing between 10 million to 15 million used tires. He is being jailed for criminal contempt for having failed to comply with a 1989 court order to clean up the dump.
