Abstract

Related article about the Maine Impaired Physicians Program, which monitors physicians with drug or alcohol problems and has the authority to send them to the licensing board if they refuse treatment. The program was developed five years ago by Dr. John Dalco, who serves as its director. Similar programs are being started for other health professionals in and outside of Maine.
