Abstract

Next week, the Cape Elizabeth Town Council will review the terms of a proposed agreement worked out with the state Attorney General's Office regarding the Thomas Jordan Trust, consisting of 236 acres of land bequeathed to the town in the 19th century for support of the poor. Under the terms of the agreement, the town would pay $600,000 to purchase the land from the trust, and would pay an additional $150,000 in back rent for having used the land as a refuse disposal area from around 1955 through 1993. The trust funds would then be invested for the benefit of the poor. Details.
