Abstract
Last week Lewiston voters rejected that city's anti-discrimination ordinance by a more than 2-to-1 margin, leaving political observers to wonder about the implications of the vote on a statewide basis. Despite the passage of a statewide anti-discrimination law by both houses of the Legislature and a poll which indicated a majority of state residents supported legal protection for homosexuals, some say that the Lewiston vote shows there is really no consensus on the issue.
