Abstract

The Maine Board of Environmental Protection on Wednesday voted 4-3 to approve Bangor Hydro-Electric Co.'s controversial Basin Mills dam on the Penobscot River. The utility must still receive approval for the $134 million project from the Maine Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Conservation groups opposed to the dam have indicated they will probably challenge the project in court. Details.
