Abstract

Article reporting that police are becoming caretakers of the mentally ill in a revolving-door system. Police are spending more time shuttling people they believe are dangerous to local hospitals or county jails, only to see them returned to the streets again because the Augusta Mental Health Institute won't provide long-term care for them.
