Abstract

Both sides in the debate over gay-rights legislation have stated that they see room for compromise following a meeting between sponsors of the bill and Gov. John R. McKernan. The governor restated his commitment to vetoing the bill in its current form, but acknowledged a need for some legislation to help gay victims of hate crimes.
