Abstract
A Northern Forests Council study shows that many woodland tracts were sold during the 1980s but few were subdivided for development. A total of 7.6 million acres in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and New York changed hands between 1980 and 1991, but only 203,000 acres were divided into smaller lots.
