Abstract

The Public Utilities Commission has approved a 5 percent increase as part of a complex compromise that will phase out a regulatory experiment designed to promote conservation. Over a 3-year period electric customers will pay $140 million owed Central Maine Power Company. The compromise will probably undercut Central Maine Power Company's plans to request a $95 million rate increase in March.
