Abstract

Cathy Hinds of the National Toxics Campaign says that local officials in the Kittery area should be planning now for how to deal with toxic waste contamination at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Two centuries of heavy industry have left the yard contaminated with fuels, oil, chemicals and metals, which could take at least ten years to clean up.
