Abstract

The Portland City Council will get its first look at a proposal to acquire an unused rail right-of-way and transform it into a pedestrian and bicycle trail that would begin near the Casco Bay ferry terminal, wind along the foot of the Eastern Promenade and hook up with the Back Bay jogging path. The Canadian National rail right-of-way would cost about $1.2 million, and the state would pay most of the cost out of federal funds.
