Abstract

The number of serious crimes in Maine dropped last year for the first time since 1986, from 46,685 incidents reported in 1991 to 43,287 incidents last year. Rape and domestic violence, however, showed increases, with a 22.6 percent increase in reported rapes and a 16.7 percent increase in reported domestic assaults. Details.
