Abstract

A new method of paving roads, called chip sealing, has some South Portland residents upset because of the problems involved. The method, about one-third cheaper than traditional asphalt overlay, involves the use of small stones that are supposed to stick to a sealant in the road surface, but stones have worked loose and have resulted in angry residents voicing their disapproval with the method to the city council.
