Abstract

A recent fact-finding tour of Aroostook County by a U.S. Department of Agriculture task force has set the stage for Maine's potato growers to receive $23 million in assistance to help them cope with last season's severe, weather-related crop losses. The Maine potato industry lost an estimated $75 million this year, more than half the average annual sales of $130 million.
