Abstract

The Maine House voted 77-67 in favor of a plan to combine the House and Senate into a single-chamber legislature, but the vote is not great enough to send the constitutional question to the voters. Proponents of the plan claim that the move to one 151-member house would save at least $4.5 million over two years.
