Abstract

Mercy Hospital, one of ten hospitals in the nation to conduct a local study of E. coli bacteria, has found that the bacteria are four to five times more prevalent in the Portland area than previously believed. E. coli recently killed one and caused another 400 to become seriously ill during an outbreak in the West. Details.
