Abstract

At Jackson Brook Institute in South Portland, children stay an average of two months, adolescents an average of 45 days, and adults between 7 and 12 days. Under federal law, hospital stays for children and adolescents are unlimited as long as doctors think they need treatment. Details, related stories.
