Abstract

Rep. Sumner Lipman, R-Augusta, asked the State and Local Government Committee to give Maine voters a chance to decide if the want a smaller Legislature. Lipman would like to see the House cut from 151 to 99 members and the Senate cut from 35 to 33 members, all of which requires a constitutional amendment which can only begin in the Legislture.
